90 minutes of what it would sound if Blonde, OutKast, J-Kwon, Daft Punk and Deborah Cox all hung out at Output (RIP).
A coping mechanism.
Our first studio episode in over a year brings the tempo down, and the track that was just an afterthought was called "Afterthought."
Woah, déjà vu. Haven't recorded a decent set since last year, at this same event no less! All the same it's good to be back. Again. (again.)
I was invited to fill an empty slot at a dance that happens nightly at this little art convention that happens every summer. All things considered it was a killer night, playing some groovy tunes on a Saturday night. This is the live recording straight from the board, and I liked it so much I decided to use it as an episode of the show.
"begin again." That's right, we're back. (But as it turned out, sort of not really.) Not for the faint of heart - this is a no-holds-barred peaktime floor-filler mix. It sounds good turned up loud.
A re-recording of my Youmacon 2013 set, live from Detroit. Was very lucky to play for the con for the third time and it was a blast. A couple surprises and a hell of a lot of fun.
"waving goodbye." A triple meaning for some smooth, sexy, wavy music that this mix contains, the long hiatus that the show went on between studio episodes 006 and 008, and the common gesture. Touching on some indie dance, glitch hop and even a little disco.
It's our first classics episode, the one where I take one of my favorite mixes from the original series and bring it forward. For this one it's episode 305 from November 7, 2010, and one of my favorite tech house mixes I've ever recorded.
This week we're going "deeper and deeper." It's a good thing, I promise. There are some tracks in here I've been waiting to play for a long time.
I took the photo for this week's show artwork outside a Brooklyn warehouse. "brooklyn bigroom" seemed like a nice way to kick off our first electro house of the show. The mix also features a cheeky Django pun.
The second episode of tia is called "get in the groove." With this mix, it's pretty easy to do that. Featuring music by Phunk Investigation, UMEK, Disclosure, and one of my favorite mashups I've ever done, "Lady Calling".
I guess you can say I turned it around. tia is my new podcast, and like my previous one, Turn It Around, it's jam-packed with good tunes and vibes. The debut episode is called "once progressive" because Episode 101 of Turn It Around was progressive house, so it only seems fitting.
